On the 14th of January there was a meeting held by the office bearers of the Alumni Association in Mr.HS Mattewal`s office in Chandigarh. Brig MPS Bajwa was present there as the vice president and Tejinder Kaushal.
The agenda has been approved after a deep study and inputs from various channels. Recomendations of Saikapians around the world and their inputs to the association for improvements in various areas has taken the front seat. The association is thankful to Dr.Surjit Chahal, Sacremento California and Dr. Vijay Chopra Lecturer Punjab University, Chandigarh for their valueable suggestions. After a good discussion on various points the Assoc. has finalized and taken up the cause for betterment and giving productive shape to the commulative efforts of all ex saikapians. The message is we are together now and can make the difference.
The Agenda Points are as under:
1. Registeration of association as a Trust for exempting the contributions made by various sources from income tax.
2. Representation of Alumni in the Governing Body of the school for better inputs and improvements in the fuctioning of the school.
3. It has come to the notice of the association that stdents from our school go to places like Chandigarh and Delhi for professional NDA Coaching by spending money from their own pocket. We plan to organize specialized coaching for them to IMPROVE their results in NDA enterance.
4. It has been observed that some very capable students have to leave the studies as their parents cannot afford the fee and basic requirements to continue in School. The assoc. shall support such students financially after recommendation from school and approval by the screening committee of assoc.
5.It has been a proven fact that Punjabis are good soldiers and are always keen to take up carrer in defence forces but lack of awareness in rural areas and financial constraints to admit their kids in Sainik School is a distant dream. The association with its widespread network of ex Saikapians shall launch an awareness campign through conducting seminaars and media publicity encouraging masses to join Sainik School. The needy parents shall be provided with books, coaching and financial support from the assoc.
6.The association shall put in an extra effort by hiring professionals for students appearing in SSB to improve the results. The senior lot like Brig Bajwa shall organize the right faculty from his army contacts in and around Jalandhar who have established themselves in preparing students for SSB interviews.
7.A special cell be fomed by the assoc. with help of distinguished Saikapians in various fields to guide the Saikapians to pursue their careers in different professions under the able guidance after they pass out from the school by clearing 12th standard.
8 .Various crash courses for competitive exams be organized and funded by Alumni Assoc. to the students after their 12th class for better preparedness to take up various careers without loosing precious time. The guidance at this stage is much required as has been observed by most of us who could not make it to NDA.
9.A room to be furnished in the school campus for visiting alumnus.
10.To motivate the school authorities to keep the assoc. well informed of all minor and major events plus acheivements so that same information be passed onto the ex saikapians on regular basis.
11. The assoc. shall organize for one motivational lecture to the school students by Distinguished Saikapians every month. The assoc. shall co ordinate this effort and request one Saikapians each month to go and motivate the students.
12. Three Ex Saikapians shall be awarded each year on Annual Alumni Meet in school for seding maximum number of comments, messages and inputs on this site. This effort shall open a more interactive platform for Saikapians to share their views, memories and success stories.
This agenda is prepared understading that we need to look beyond now under the able guidance of our senior members and capable Saikapians.
